As a writer, I feel strong in communicating my own commentary during an essay. Expressing my own ideas has always been essential to my writing style. This allows me to integrate evidence and connect it to my ideas very well. Overall organization of an essay is my biggest weakness. I always feel as if my ideas, paragraphs, and sentences can be arranged better. I hope this course can grow my efficiency in communication and help me structure my ideas more efficiently as well.

I never felt like I was a good writer, there always seemed to be students who were better at formulating essays. I felt like I always have good ideas, but essays were never my strength. During school before Notre Dame I hardly was assigned essays. Primarily my writings were for formative exams or course credit exams. I believe this inexperience may be the cause of some of my worries. When I write I typically analyze the prompt and plan my paragraphs main ideas. Then I start and allow for ideas to form as I continue writing.

I have primarily been assigned print essays, however I have been given assignments throughout high school that required presentations and professionally printed posters. These assignments have always been easier to complete because the primary communication always came from my own ability to explain the outline created by the media.
